Right before my periods are about to start my face gets covered with pimples. this is a regular occurrence that happens without fail.

Yes there is a connection between the time period of having acnes during menstrural cycle. You can see the pimples sprouting up just before the beginning of your period. And it essentially subsides when your period gets over. The pimple occurs due to the high level of progesterone. The inflammation works underneath your skin forming swells as acnes. This is a natural thing, and there's nothing to fear about. Once the bleeding happens the pimples reduces because the impured blood gets swayed away
